The New America

Awhile back I was reading the comments on an article about gun violence when I came across this:"The problem in this country is that we as a people have lost all respect for human life". For some reason that stuck with me, because there used to be a time on the Internet when people would come together when a tragedy struck and offer their condolences and prayers. Now the rule of thumb is to use some poor souls misfortune as a soap box for ones political beliefs. We have truly become a soulless society. How did this happen? When did life become all about "me"? When did we, as a people become so morally callous and spiritually depressed? I use the word "depressed" instead of bankrupt because in all likelihood a person can be raised out of their depression as opposed to being bankrupt when you just don't have anything left to work with.

What's the solution? Where do we start? I don't have the answers, but I'm trying because I know there's a solution. And please don't say love. Sometimes the act of love isn't enough and I think this country has gone beyond that. We need something greater. Something less corruptible and yes, something more user friendly.
